Global Businesswoman, Mom and Fisher’s Landing Area Resident will Focus on Education and Economic Development
Vancouver – Maureen Winningham, head of Global R&D and IT Learning at Intel Security (formerly McAfee), a mother and mentor to young women entering STEM (Science Technology Engineering Math) professions, announced today that she will run for State Representative, Position 2, in the 18th legislative district. “I am excited for the opportunity to serve the families and businesses of Clark County,” said Winningham. In the business world, we see results when teams collaborate. People who have respectful, candid dialogue and exchange ideas are more innovative, productive and have higher morale. They work together to solve problems. Collaboration is a spirit lost in Olympia, where too often, ideology stands in the way of common sense.”
Maureen lives with her husband Johnny, a filmmaker and Artistic Director at a Vancouver-based media production company. Their young daughter attends Vancouver Public Schools in East Fisher’s Landing. Maureen volunteers her time to sponsor those battling adolescent drug addiction and alcoholism. A longtime advocate for education, Winningham shares her executive experience to encourage women and girls to enter the high tech field. Maureen leads efforts to guide high school students obtain college scholarships, advise college students to pursue majors in emerging technologies and mentor female engineers in career development.
