Nearly Two Months Pass Without a Supervisor for District 3

Clark County Democrats Top Pick Craig Pridemore

With only 14 days remaining before the deadline passes and the governor is forced by state law to intervene,  Clark County Commissioners David Madore and Tim Mielke have scheduled Tuesday, May 27th at 1pm to interview the three candidates and announce their choice for appointment to replace Steve Stuart as District 3 Commissioner. Stuart resigned in April to take the job of Ridgefield City Manager.

Clark County Democrats met on March 28th and by near unanimous vote on the first ballot selected former county commissioner Craig Pridemore as their number one choice.  Clark County Democrats Vice-Chair delivered the official notice to the Commissioners on April 11th.

While the two remaining commissioners, both Republicans, are under no legal obligation to select the Democrats first choice, it is a long standing tradition to do so, as was done seven years ago when a Democratic controlled commission selected current congresswoman Jaime Herrera-Buetler who was the local Republican Party's first choice for a vacancy in the statehouse.
