This is the first issue of a new web-based and regularly published "newsletter" on Current Happenings, Important Updates & News From The Clark County Democrats. We're just getting started so we'll be making some changes to the look and feel as we move forward and hear your suggestions. This link will be broadcast via E-mail and other communications platforms when a new update is released. Contact Roy Valo, ComTech Chair if you have suggestions or problems reading this update.

Our next general meeting will be held (as it has also the past many years) on the second Monday of the month at 7pm. 1. STATE MEETING UPDATE
Thank you to the many Clark County Democrats who attended our state meeting in Olympia this past weekend. We had a strong showing and Congratulations to Justin Oberg (Clark County State Committeeman) for being elected to our state party board as the 3rd CD Representative. Congratulations to 18th LD'er and former state senate candidate Eric Holt for his election to vice chair of the state party progressive caucus. Look for updates soon that will be sent out via email and linked here from our County State Committee people who will also update us at the February general meeting.
2. WELCOME NEW LEADERSHIP TEAMS
We just got done electing our leadership teams to lead our Democratic parties in the 17th, 18th, 49th, Women & Young Democrats. 80% of the people elected are first timers in leadership roles for the local party. Please work hard to support all our teams as they get to work and move us forward. The time and energy we waste bickering with each other over inconsequential things is time and energy that could be focused on achieving our goals and fighting to protect our rights and our community from the assault underway from the White House. Please focus on working together to get Democrats elected!
3. SUPPORT OUR DEMOCRATS IN OLYMPIA
Our elected Dems in the state house Sharon Wylie, Annette Cleveland and Monica Jurado Stonier need our support as they fight hard for our core values in Olympia. Please support them and thank them when you see them for their continued efforts and personal sacrifices to serve the public good.
4. MLK BREAKFAST UPDATE
The MLK Breakfast cancelled to to snow has been rescheduled for Saturday February 4th same place and time.
5. COMTECH TEAM UPDATE
The ComTech team is reorganizing and expanding to upgrade our communications platforms. Look for a new text messaging service to be available for CCD members to receive important alerts and messages. We're expanding our website to include this regular blog from myself, our state committee people and other leaders on important happenings, organization needs and committee updates. We’ll also be relying more on Twitter, E-mail updates, our public Facebook page (please LIKE if you haven’t already) which has become one of the most “liked’ local political FB sites in Clark County.
6. UNFILTERED PODCAST GOES LIVE
Our new podcast "Unfiltered" kicks off next month. The first guests will be Rob Frisina and Tanisha Harris. Hosts Jeff Angelo and Mike Dalesandro will be interviewing a wide variety of local people. Look for some Republicans as well as Democrats to appear - I've heard the test podcasts - and this is really something to look forward to! Thanks to Melissa Valo and Roy Valo for producing.
7. RECRUITMENTS UNDERWAY FOR 2017
We are actively recruiting for 2017 city, school, port, fire and other district races across Clark County. Candidate Development Committee Chair Jackie Lane is hard at work and will update us at the Feb. meeting about these races and our plans. If you or someone you know may be interested in exploring a local run for office, please contact Jackie Lane, Tanisha Harris or myself.
Our next update will include news about the upcoming leadership summits for Clark County LDs/Organizations and SW Washington Counties and LDs; planning for community town halls on specific issues to be held this spring and we'll also be updating our openings for the many opportunities to volunteer for a Clark County Democrats committee or team.
FROM THE CHAIR
Hello Clark County Democrats!
I hope you like our new web based "Update". By using this forum for posting important updates and alerts, we're not requiring access to a proprietary service like Facebook to get the information you're most interested in on how to get and stay involved with your LD, the county or the affiliated organizations (Women Dems and Young Dems). We'll be tweaking with this as we go forward to make sure we reach the maximum number of Democrats in our party and the community.
I also want to remind us all of our primary mission here which is to recruit and elect quality Democratic candidates who will focus on pushing our agenda forward into legislation. Part of our mission includes:
- Working in our communities, precincts and LDs to Educate, Energize and Empower voters
- Working Together to build strong teams of volunteers and PCOs to help our candidates get elected
- Be visible in our communities and assist & coordinate with our allies and partners such as Planned Parenthood and Labor
- Raise awareness of important issues endorsed by our party and that promote our core values
- Contact your city, county, regional, state and federal elected officials to make sure they know how you feel on our issues
If you're on board to help with all that in some small or big way - however you can - thank you!
If you have a question or want to discuss something party related, email me at "Chair@ClarkCountyDems.com".
Let's get to work!
Chair, Clark County Democrats
